Get ready to LOL at city’s new comedy club

Comedians Baggy and SA Aravind are launching a first-of-its-kind funniest comedy club called The Spotted Hyena at Club Crest, Phoenix MarketCity.

“We always believed that Chennai needs a space where comedians can do a lot more shows, experiment with new show formats and so on. And this will be a great opportunity for us. The idea with The Spotted Hyena is to create a space in Chennai for comedy and the performing arts, where artists can jam, trial new material, experiment with new formats, perform regularly, shoot and just constantly try and push the boundary. The Box at Club Crest provides the perfect ambiance for an intimate performance where we can really have fun with the content. It’s also a great opportunity to discover new talent, get more stage time and hone your craft as an artist,” says Baggy, one of the co-founders of The Half Boiled Inc.

Once the club is launched, Chennaiites can expect to find an interesting show every single weekend, ranging from stand up and improv to music and theatre. As part of the launch event on August 15, a four-day stand-up comedy festival with some favourite names in the business will be held. Artistes such as Kenny Sebastian, Sorabh Pant, Rahul Subramaniam and Naveen Richard will be performing.
