Motorist hit by police vehicle, hurt
A rider’s leg was fractured after a sub-inspector riding a police department car hit his two-wheeler on Royapettah High Road in Triplicane on Sunday.

The victim, Balaji, has been admitted to a hospital and the SI Manikandan, attached to Intelligence wing, was reportedly assaulted by the passers-by after the accident.
The car is used by Zam Bazaar inspector and the incident happened when the constable was returning to the station after dropping the inspector at his house. Manikandan, who is the driver’s friend, wanted to practise driving, said sources. While negotiating a turn, Manikandan lost control of the vehicle and hit Balaji, who was riding a bike. Balaji has lodged a complaint at Zam Bazaar police station.
