AR constable triggers gun by mistake at school
Panic gripped Tiruvottiyur after an Armed Reserve constable, who had been posted to guard faulty EVM machines kept at a private school, triggered his gun by mistake in the school premises. None was injured in the accident.

The armed reserve constable, Naseer Mohammad, was posted at Vellaiyan Chettiyar Higher Secondary School in Tiruvottiyur as many faulty electronic voting machines (EVMs) have been kept there. The EVMs were brought for the parliamentary elections and the Election Commission officials had kept all the faulty EVMs in the school and locked it. The police said that constable Mohammad was cleaning the weapon, when he pressed the trigger by mistake and fired at the roof. Senior officials are inquiring into the incident.
