Anti-social steals bike for jail buddy, nabbed
A 30-year-old history-sheeter, who stole a bike to make travel easy for a murder accused he befriended in prison, has been arrested by the Kasimedu police.

Two stolen bikes were recovered from the accused, L Christopher (30) of Kasimedu, and he was remanded in judicial custody. One of the bikes belonged to M Anbarasu (34) of Royapuram, a technician at Chennai Port. On Monday, the vehicle that was parked in front of his house went missing and he lodged a complaint at the Kasimedu police station.
Meanwhile, the Puzhal police noticed a man starting a bike without keys near the Central Prison and secured him on suspicion. Interrogation revealed that he was L Christopher and he stole the bike from Kasimedu. Subsequently, he was handed over to the Kasimedu police.
The Kasimedu police said that Christopher stole the bike to help Jebakumar, a murder accused from Ennore. “The duo met at the Central Prison when they were in judicial custody and became friends. Jebakumar, who was released on bail, recently moved to Tiruvallur to avoid police attention. He found it difficult to travel to the city by train. Christopher knew how to start bikes without keys with help of a wire and stole the bike for Jebakumar,” said the police. Two bikes in his possession were seized and he was remanded in judicial custody.
In another incident, the Tirumangalam police arrested a trio during a vehicle check on Monday night and recovered a car and six stolen bikes. The accused were identified as Cyrilraj (22), Balaji (21) and Manikandan (22) of Melakottaiyur, who have similar cases pending against them at Pondy Bazaar and Semmanchery.
