Teen kills self after mom’s complaint to college authorities

The deceased, Sureshkumar of Kelambakkam, was a second-year engineering student at a private college in Semmanchery. The police said that his mother Maheshwari visited the college on Friday and complained to the authorities that Sureshkumar was not focussing on his studies.

Sureshkumar, who returned from college, fought with his mother over this and stepped out of the house. As he did not return till late night, Maheshwari lodged a complaint at the Kelambakkam police station. After a hunt was launched for him, the Kanathur police on Saturday morning received information that a teen’s body has washed ashore near Uthandi. Maheshwari was taken to the spot where she identified that it was Sureshkumar.

His body was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination, said the police. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
