Gang that robbed woman at Ayanavaram arrested

The woman was returning from a concert in city on Tuesday night when the gang travelling in an autorickshaw attacked her and took away her mobile phones, laptop and Rs 1,500 in cash.

Those arrested have been identified as E Satheesh, a driving school instructor, M Satheesh Kumar and D Hari, both autorickshaw drivers, and R Eshwar Das, an air conditioner mechanic. All the suspects hail from Ayanavaram.

On Tuesday, Suryakala, a resident of Poompuhar Nagar in Kolathur, had attended a concert and was returning home when four men came in an autorickshaw and pushed her off her vehicle. "She was not wearing any gold so they snatched her mobile phones, laptop and cash, and escaped from the scene," police said.

Suryakala had informed a police patrol team and later filed a complaint with the ICF police. The police arrested the men with the help of CCTV footage.
