Labourer clubbed to death, hunt on for co-worker
A 20-year-old labourer was hacked to death at an under-construction site in Royapettah in the wee hours of Monday. After registering a case, the police have launched a hunt for the suspect, who worked along with the victim.

The deceased, L Chinnaparaj of Tindivanam, a Class 12 pass out, reached the city a month ago in search of a job that paid better wages. He started working at a construction site on Deiva Sigamani Salai at Royapettah.
The suspect, Mullainathan from Tittakudi in Cuddalore district, is a diploma graduate, said the police.
On Sunday night, Chinnaparaj and Mullainathan were drinking and a quarrel erupted between them. Following this, other workers intervened and pacified them. Mullainathan, who went out after the fight, returned to the construction site late in the night.
While other workers allowed him think he has come to sleep there, one of them saw Mullainathan escaping from the spot and Chinnaparajlying in a pool of blood with a severe head injury.
“Chinnaparaj was hit on the head with an iron road and he died due to loss of blood. Four special teams have been formed to nab Mullainathan and a team has rushed to his hometown. He had left behind all his belongings, including the mobile phone,” said police.
