12-year-old fatally knocked down by pvt bus

The school students and the public caught the bus driver and thrashed him before handing him over to the police.

The deceased was identified as K Karthikeyan, a resident of Aramperum Selvi Street in Kancheepuram. He was a Class 7 student at a government-aided school inthe locality.

On Monday morning, Karthikeyan was traveling to his school on his bicycle. When he was near the taluk office on Kamarajar Road, a private bus went out of control and rammed his bicycle from behind. In the impact, Karthikeyan was thrown off the vehicle and died on the spot with grievous injuries on his head.

The bus driver immediately tried to escape from the spot. However, fellow students and public and caught him. While he was beaten up by the students, a team from Siva Kanchi police station arrived at the spot and rescued the driver from them.

The police the boy’s body for post-mortem examination to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital and have arrested the bus driver. The students and the public, who gathered at the spot, alleged that the drivers who are operating private buses in the locality don’t have proper license to drive heavy vehicles.
