Chennai
The deceased, Rajashekar, was a resident of Chinthadripet and worked at an IT company on MGR Salai in Taramani, said the police. The accident took place when he was returning home.
Around 1 am, when Rajashekar was riding on Thiruvengadam street on the OMR service road, another bike came from the opposite direction and both the bikes collided head on. In the impact, Rajashekar was thrown off the bike and his head hit the median. He died on the spot.
The other biker has been identified as 29-year-old Dhanashekar, a home guard with the Taramani police station. He escaped unhurt.
The Guindy traffic investigation police said that Dhanasekar was on patrol duty and was checking the ATMs on the stretch. “He saw Rajashekar speeding towards him, he stopped his bike, but Rajashekar could not stop his vehicle and they collided,” said an officer.
Even though Rajashker carried a helmet, he was not wearing it during the time of the accident. His body was sent to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. The Guindy Traffic Investigation police have registered a case and investigation is under way.
