Tangedco asks officials to prepare for monsoon
As the southwest monsoon is intensifying in the State, Tangeedco has written to its officials on the steps to be taken during disasters like flood or cyclone and asked them to create awareness among the public on coming in contact with damaged power cables and leaned poles.

In the instructions to the officials of the distribution wing, Tangedco’s planning and resource centre listed the precautionary measures to be adopted to face such situations.
It has asked the superintending engineers and executive engineers to form various teams as outlined in the guidelines of the Tangedco disaster management plan and ensure that the team members implement the tasks entrusted to them.
In the instruction, the officer urged all field staff and officers to be alert to implement all the measures of the guidelines. “The SEs should carry out any instructions issued regarding the disaster by the district Collectorsalso. The SEs may also contact district collectors and appraise the position regarding rectificationworks attended byTangedco,” it said.
After a quick preliminary survey of damages, it said that a consolidated report and approximate cost of damages should be sent to the office of chief engineer of the planning and resource centre whenever there are heavy rain-winds during monsoon periods. “This should be followed by a detailed report on damages, including HT and LT line, distribution transformers and service connections affected together with the requirement of poles and conductors to rectify the damages. Even if there are no damages, a nil report should be sent,” it said.
