The arrested persons were identified as Madbor Masuv (38) and Manun Miah (31) from Bangladesh. They had brought two girls, an 18-year-old and a 13-year old, from Myanmar promising them that they will be taken to Malaysia.

The forgery came to light when the immigration officials were checking the documents of the passengers who were about to board the flight to Malaysia via Colombo on Thursday at 4 pm.

When the officials questioned the group over suspicion, they said that they were newly married couples and they were going to Malaysia for honeymoon.

They had Bangladesh passports in their possession. The group also claimed that the age was not a bar in their country to get married. When the officials scanned all the passports, it was found that they were fake.

After inquiry, they found that the two girls are from Myanmar. The two men went to Myanmar recently and befriended them. The group, then, travelled to West Bengal from Myanmar and reached Chennai from there by train.

In the city, they met an agent and brought fake passport for all of them and planned to go to Malaysia for work.

The police sent the two girls to a government home in Perambur and arrested the two men.

The police are trying to find if the men were involved in human trafficking in the past.
