    Chennai to receive more rain in 48 hrs: Met

    Several areas across the city received heavy to moderate rainfall on Tuesday evening with southern suburbs receiving at least 3 cm to 5 cm of rainfall, said officials from the regional meteorological centre here.

    Areas including Porur, Tambaram, Pallavaram, Meenambakkam Egmore and Velachery received heavy rainfall during the evening. The intense rain disrupted traffic in parts of Guindy, Madipakkam, Virugambakkam, Velachery and Perambur.


    The low-lying areas across the city also experienced waterlogging for a brief time.


    Train and flight operations, however, functioned without any major delay. Power fluctuations were experienced in various localities including Vepery, Teynampet, Madiapakkam, Pallavaram, Virugambakkam and other areas.


    As per regional meteorological department, the city is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall during in next 48 hours and the sky may overcast during the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively for next 48 hours.


    Weather blogger Pradeep John stated that intense spells of rain are expected in the city which is likely to cover more areas including the northern parts of the city.
