CB-CID summons former mayor
The Crime branch-CID has summoned DMK MLA and former city Mayor M Subramanian to appear before investigators on Thursday.
Chennai
The agency is probing a case alleging that Subramanian was involved in fraudulent activities in certain land dealing. Political rivals alleged that he had created fake documents to show the properties situated in house number 3 and 4 in Labour Colony, Guindy, were owned by his wife. They have also accused him of creating fake ration card to include some persons as members of his family.
When this newspaper contacted Subramanian, the Saidapet legislator said the CB-CID has issued a summon asking him to appear before the officers on July 25. “This is a 25-year-old land related litigation, and there is a petition pending before the court. I will appear before the officers and answer their queries. This is a political vendetta against me by the AIADMK government; I will handle the issue legally,” Subramanian told DT Next. It may be noted that the former Mayor has already obtained an anticipatory bail in connection with the case. He alleged that the sleuths were trying to prevent his participation in the recently concluded assembly proceedings.
