SL woman checks in to fly to Colombo, boards Bahrain flight
Throwing the Indian aviation security system to the wind, a 40-year-old Sri Lankan woman travelled to Bahrain from Chennai after checking in as a passenger bound for Colombo on Thursday. She was however deported from the gulf country and the Indian authorities sent her back to Colombo on Friday.
Chennai
Airport sources identified the woman as Asha Anandan who had visited India and was scheduled to fly back to her country on July 18. It looks like she checked in as a passenger to Colombo in Air India flight with a valid ticket and had collected boarding pass. But she used another ticket/boarding pass to Bahrain during security check and managed to get into the flight bound to gulf country, sources said.
Air India staff while looking for Asha Anandan, who collected the boarding pass, were shocked to find that she had boarded a flight to Bahrain. They immediately alerted officials in Bahrain who detained Asha Anandan. She was deported back to Chennai and from the city, she was sent to Sri Lanka. It is not clear if she was trying to reach Bahrain without valid documents.
