Talking to reporters, Chief Secretary K Shanmugham, accompanied by DGP J K Tripathy, on Sunday said that there will be better coordination between various departments involved in the day to day functioning at the venue. “We will make regular visits and senior officials from other departments were also asked to visit the temple,” he said.
Apart from the appointment of two special officers, including an officer who managed Mahamaham a few years ago, the chief secretary noted that steps are being taken to set up additional restrooms, distribute more water and biscuit packets, fitting of additional fans, setting up more signboards and maps.
Talking about the parking woes, Tripathy noted that additional 1,000 Home Guard volunteers will be deployed in three shifts to regulate queues and vehicle flow. The police are also identifying more parking locations.
“More benches and chairs will be placed and extra medical teams will be available at exit gates. Medical teams will be ready to administer ORS solution in case of dehydration,” the official noted. Senior citizens and physically challenged will be given more attention, he added.
Additional deployment of wheelchairs and conservancy workers will also be arranged, he added. The Chief Secretary also noted that VIP darshan will be streamlined without affecting the regular queue.
