LKG girl, maid abducted for Rs 60 lakh ransom
A three-year-old daughter of a government doctor was kidnapped along with the house help who went to pick her up in Aminjikarai on Thursday afternoon.

City police have formed a special team after the girl’s parents received a call from the house help’s phone demanding Rs 60 lakh as ransom to release both.
A Anwika, an LKG student of a private school at Mogappair, is the daughter of Arulraj and Nandini, residents of Shenoy Nagar, said police. Nandini, a doctor at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, received a call from her house help Ambika’s phone around 1.30 pm.Â
The person at the other end reportedly told her that they had kidnapped her daughter and the maid who went to pick up the child, and demanded Rs 60 lakh to release them. Nandini informed Arulraj and the couple rushed to Aminjikarai police station. Police have registered a case and a special team has been formed to nab the kidnappers and rescue the girl.Â
The police are inquiring whether Arulraj and Nandini have any rivals in the profession, and are also checking the antecedents of Ambika who began working in the house only three months ago. Initial inquires revealed that Ambika boarded a car along with the girl after the school van dropped her near the house.Â
