The accused, Jashwanth (36), and the deceased, Jaganath Rawat (30), were working as security personnel and shared a rented house in Bharathi Nagar at Guindy along with two other persons, Rabi Modhi and Santhosh. According to the police, Jaganath Rawat did not go to work for the past few days and got drunk frequently. On Tuesday, Jashwanth also stayed with him while the other two went to work. When they returned home, they found Jaganath lying unconscious. They called Jashwanth over the phone but the latter said that he did not know anything. On suspicion, the duo informed the Guindy police. A team of police personnel reached the spot and found that Jaganath was dead. Based on the inputs from Rabi Modhi and Santhosh, the police launched a hunt for Jashwanth and arrested him at Chennai airport on Wednesday. Investigation revealed that Jashwanth was infuriated as Jaganath made fun of him under the influence of alcohol and kicked the latter on the chest when he was lying on the floor. Jashwanth was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
