Tangedco passes order for swift action on grievances
With complaints pouring from power consumers on the inordinate delay in attending to grievances, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has issued a blanket order against diverting field workers for office assignments.

With complaints pouring from power consumers on the inordinate delay in attending to grievances, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has issued a blanket order against diverting field workers for office assignments.
“It was brought to the knowledge of the Chairman and Managing Director of Tangedco that the field workers were being assigned office work through diversion order while the affecting the fieldwork at the circle level,” said the instruction issued to all the chief engineers.
Consumers have been complaining that they have been receiving lacklustre responses from Tangedco field officers if they call to complaint against power cuts or voltage fluctuation.
The federation of trade unions in Tangedco has raised the issue of rampant diversion of the field workers to the office work.
The chief engineers were directed to immediately cancel the diversion orders to send back the field workers to their original assignments. “Only the chief engineers could depute the field worker to office work in unavoidable administrative reasons. They should be utmost could be diverted for six months only at the rarest of rare cases,” the order said. If the order was not considered, strict action would be initiated against the officials, it said.
