    71-year-old arrested for wife’s murder

    A 71-year-old man was arrested by the police for allegedly killing his wife during a heated argument between the two reportedly over property, in Pulianthope.

    .The arrested man was identified as Ramakrishnan, a daily wage worker, of Corporation Colony in Pulianthope. He was arrested for allegedly killing his wife Jyothi (65).


    Police believe that the attack on happened on the night of July 6 after which Ramakrishnan escaped from the house. The next morning, neighbours noticed that Jyothi had not come out of the house and informed her son Dayanandhan, who was staying in another neighbourhood.


    When he rushed to his parents’ house, Dayanandhan found that the door was locked. He broke open the door and found his mother Jyothi unconscious in a pool of blood with injuries on head, while his father was not in the house. He then rushed Jyothi to hospital with the help of neighbours, but she died on Thursday.


    Meanwhile, Pulianthope police tracked and nabbed Ramakrishnan who confessed that he had attacked his wife following a quarrel over property. He had hit Jyothi on her head using a hammer and left the house, leaving her in a pool of blood, police said.


    Police had arrested and remanded him earlier. Now, after her death, the sections against him has been altered and Ramakrishnan was booked under murder charges.
