DVAC books two industrial safety officials for graft
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has registered a case against a deputy director and an assistant director of Industry Safety Department after Rs 62,000 in cash was seized from their office.

The DVAC has cited S Balu, deputy director of industrial safety and health, Tiruvottiyur (also in charge of Kancheepuram) and B Sivakumar, assistant director of industrial safety and health, Kancheepuram as accused persons in the case. The cash was seized from their office on February 11.
The raid was conducted in the office of deputy director II, Kancheepuram, located in Guindy based on information that the officials are collecting illegal gratification from the representatives of industries and factories, who apply for new licenses or renewal of already issued licences.
During the raid, bundles of cash hidden in the deputy director’s office were seized. Also, Rs 5,000 was also seized from assistant director Sivakumar’s desk.
Following this, a case was registered under CrPC section 102 (any police officer may seize any property which may be alleged or suspected to have been stolen, or which may be found under circumstances which create suspicion of the commission of any offence), said sources in the DVAC.
