SI's son, 3 others held for attack on beautician

The accused were identified as M Dileepan (34), P Aarthivel (32), R Anand (30) and S Gokul (31). Sources said Aarthivel is the son of sub-inspector Ponraj attached to Mamabalam police station.

The police said that Aarthivel is part of the gangster CD Mani’s gang, and has several cases pending against him at Kumaran Nagar and Tirumullaivoyal police stations. The victim, Brinda (31) of Choolaipallam, is undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger. The incident happened on Sunday night when Brinda was at her salon. Four men who barged in attacked her with a knife and escaped with her 1.5 sovereign jewel.

Based on her complaint, MGR Nagar police secured the gang. Investigation revealed that Brinda, who was in relationship with Dileepan for over two years, snapped ties with him recently. Infuriated over this, Dileepan gathered his friends and attacked her.
