Four men, three women held for selling ganja, banned gutkha
Elephant Gate police have arrested a four-member gang, including a woman, and seized 300 grams of ganja. The accused were identified as B Paulraj (38) of Purasawalkam, and S Arputham (62), P Manohar (22) and S Parthiban (24) of Annai Sathya Nagar.

Police said that they were secured following a tip-off that the gang was selling ganja at the Wall Tax Road - NSC Bose Road junction on Friday. Police also seized Rs 4,060 from them. Arputham had already been arrested on ganja peddling charges, said police. All four were remanded in judicial custody. Meanwhile, city police have arrested two women and a man for selling mawa and gutkha products in different places. Anna Salai police arrested M Shanthi (52) and U Salim Unnisa (42) of Border Thottam and seized 200 grams of mawa and 350 sachets of banned tobacco products. Similarly, Choolaimedu police have arrested A Farooq Hussain (54) of the same locality and seized 500 kg of mawa tobacco. All three were remanded in judicial custody.
