Decongest traffic on ECR and OMR, demands Tiruporur MLA
Newly elected Tiruporur DMK MLA L Idhayavarman on Friday demanded decongestion of arterial East Coast and Old Mahaballipuram roads in his constituency.

“IT companies and corporate firms located near Sholinganallur and Tiruporur are suffering traffic congestion and drinking water crisis,” the legislator said in his maiden speech in the Assembly seeking better traffic solutions and flyovers at interconnections.
Tiruporur has emerged as a hub serving the Information Technology and IT enabled companies, but the existing infrastructure is not sufficient, according to him.
The MLA also demanded delimitation in the local bodies coming under his constituency and demanded diversion of desalinated water from Nemili plant to suburbs located close to IT companies.
Idhayavarman also demanded a dedicated full time fire service station and an office for deputy superintendent of police in his constituency.
Pointing out that Tiruporur is located close to Muttukadu, Nemili and Mahabalipuram fishing hamlets, the MLA demanded better fishing facilities for local fishermen. The legislator also noted that the constituency has patches of reserve forests and there are interior roads passing through them. The forest department is denying permission to lay roads and motorists are forced to use the battered roads.
Meanwhile, Electricity Minister P Thangamani also demanded permission from the forest ministry to put up power lines across Pallikarnai marshland, so that it will benefit suburban power consumers without polluting the wetland.
When the MLA pointed out that there were lack of ration shops in the locality complaining that the public were forced to travel up-to 4 km, Co-operatives Minister Sellur K Raju denied that the constituency was short of fair price shops. There are fair price shops for every two kilometres, he replied.
The MLA also demanded better breeding centres for cattle and sheep that are reared by those having farmlands along the ECR.
