Monthly review meet to clear plan approvals in 30 days
In a move to ensure clearance of planning permission applications in 30 days, the Greater Chennai Corporation has directed regional superintending engineers to conduct a monthly review meeting.

According to a circular issued by the Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner G Prakash, the regional superintending engineers should conduct monthly review meetings with zonal executive engineers and submit the reports to the principalchief engineer.
“The planning permission application and building application has to be processed within a stipulated time limit of 30 days and approval must be issued without any delay,” the circular stated. Mandating that the applications should only be received through online, the circular explained that the planning permission application up to stilt + 3 floors or ground floor + 2 floors with an FSI area of 464.50 sqm should be submitted in zonal office portal for residential and commercial buildings.
But, stilt + 3 floors or ground floor + 2 floors with an area more than 464.50 sqm and less than 929.00 sqm FSI area should be submitted in headquarters portal for residential and commercial building.
Once the online plan drawings, created in Auto-DCR software, are received, assistant executive engineers should approve or reject the drawings within eight working hours and the assistant executive engineer should make a site visit within five days.
If the document satisfies, the applications should be forwarded to zonal executive engineers within 21 days. If the application lacks certain particulars, applicants should be intimated, and necessary details should be submitted within 15 days. Demolition applications are also to bereceived online.
Assistant executive engineers would forward the applications to executive engineers and the executive engineers to superintending engineers and then to principal chief engineer. The circular also directs the engineers of all ranks to make site visits if required.
The circular instructs the engineers to make sure if the provisions for solar energy tapping and rainwater harvesting structures, which are mandated by the Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019, while processing the planning permission applications.
