The boy, Anbarasan from Tiruvannamalai, is the son of Rangasamy and Lakshmi, who are daily wage workers. In 2013, the couple along with Anbarasan had come to a temple in Shepakkam village near Uthiramerur in Kancheepuram.
During the function, Anbarasan went missing and a case was filed by the Peru Nagar police station. But the local police were unable to trace the boy. Following this, the case was transferred to the Anti-Child Trafficking Unit last year. Recently, the police received an information that the boy was staying at an orphanage in Devipattinam village in Ramanathapuram district. Based on this, a special police team visited the orphanage on Friday, and confirmed it was Anbarasan.
On Saturday, he was brought to the Kancheepuram police superintendent’s office. Later, after completing the formalities, Anbarasan was handed over to his parents.
Police said that he lost his way at the temple and somehow got inside a train to reach Rameswaram, from where he was rescued and sent to the orphanage by an unknown person.
