The authorities alleged that both the driver and the conductor did not properly inform the traffic controller or the police control room when the students took control of the bus.
Chennai
About 9 students from New College are suspended by the college management after the Bus Day mishap at Chennai.
The video of several students falling off from the bus rooftop went viral in the social media last week. The principal of New College, Dr. A. Abdul Jabbar has given a suspension notice to the students involved in the mishap.
Action against the 25G bus driver Lakshmanan and conductor Marudhavamani has also been taken. Transport authorities have sent the two of them to a driving school in Chrompet for a week of training.
The authorities alleged that both the driver and the conductor did not properly inform the traffic controller or the police control room when the students took control of the bus.
They said that if they were informed about the activities of the students immediately, the police would have rushed and stopped the bus day celebration, which both driver and conductor failed to do.
But the bus driver said that he tried to park the bus by the road when the students started the bus day celebration but when a student started to threaten him with a knife, he was unable to do it.
