“The overhead (OH) electricity line has been restored between Airport and Nanganallur stations and all Metro train services has been normalised from 4.30 am on Wednesday. All Metro services will be running as per the timetable,” the officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said.
The official added that the trains originating from Washermenpet and Chennai Central and heading to Chennai airport stopped at Nanganallur station after the OH cable snapped near the airport station on Tuesday around 9 pm.
From Nanganallur station, passengers were taken to Chennai airport and Meenambakkam via Tempo travellers and cars. Similarly, those waiting at Chennai airport were transported to Nanganallur station for them to continue their journey. All train services in other corridors are running as per timetable, an official release said.
Meanwhile, Tamil news channels telecast CCTV footage of a transformer blast allegedly at Koyambedu Metro station. The visual was widely circulated in social media as well. The blast supposedly happened after the working hours. However, a CMRL official claimed that no such incidents happened and the visual was fake.
