The accusd, a resident of SBI colony in Saligramam, is an MBA graduate and is umemployed, the police said.

Pradip is said to have sourced the numbers of a few IAS officers from government websites and spoke to them on WhatsApp as if he is an IPS officer from Tamil Nadu posted in Bengaluru for the past four months.

Two months ago, he spoke to a senior official at Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation and requested some corrections to be made in his ration card. However, as there was no progress on his request, he called the official again and reportedly spoke to her in an arrogantly.

The official, who grew suspicious, alerted CS-CID superintendent Varunkumar to verify the man’s background. The suspect was secured at his house and interrogation revealed that he was not an IPS officer and that he had made similar calls to other IAS officers also to get his personal work done. He was handed over to the Virugambakkam police for further investigation. However, since he did not cheat anybody for money, he was let off with a warning.
