Student from Sudan dies in road mishap on OMR
A youth from Sudan who was pursuing an undergraduate degree in the city died on Monday night, three days after sustaining grievous injuries following an accident on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Sholinganallur.

The deceased was identified as Mohammed Elmothar Apte (21), son of Abdul Rahman El Razi from Sudan, who was a BCom student at a private university in Pallavaram.
Apte and his classmate and friend M Ayuman (21), also from Sudan, went on a bike towards Kelambakkam on Saturday night. Around 11 pm, their bike collided head-on with another two-wheeler ridden by one Kavya that was coming in the opposite direction. All three fell on the road and sustained injuries, and were admitted to a private hospital in Perungudi.
However, Elmothar Apte died without responding to treatment on Monday night. His body was sent to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Kavya (26) of Velachery, a private firm employee, and Ayuman are said to be out of danger. Police said Ayuman underwent a surgery on Tuesday. Guindy traffic investigation police had registered a case and have been investigating.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the Sudanese duo came in the wrong direction leading to in the accident.
Rider killed as bike ramsmedian near Padi
In another fatal accident, a 23-year-old man died after his bike rammed a median near Padi flyover on Monday evening. The deceased M Rajasekar of Kodungaiyur worked in an automobile manufacturing unit.
The accident took place when he was on his way to work along with his colleague Suresh Kumar of Kodungaiyur. Around 6 pm, when they were about to reach the flyover in Padi, another two-wheeler came their way. In a bid to avoid hitting the bike, Rajasekar swerved the bike. 
As a result, he lost balance of the vehicle and rammed the median, and was thrown away in the impact. The riders of the other two-wheeler, Suresh and Saritha, too fell on the road. All of them were rushed to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.
From there, Rajasekar was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. However, he died without responding to treatment. The other three are said to be stable. Tirumangalam traffic investigation police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.Â
