Col Dr Jeppiar Science Awareness Day is celebrated every year to recognise the launch of the Satyabamasat. The primary aim of ‘Science Awareness Day’ is to motivate the school students about its importance.
This programme for students will be a “Today’s science for tomorrow’s leaders.” Guests of Honour of the event included V Balamurugan, Director CVRDE, VK Dadhwal Director IIST and R Baskaran, Associate Director of RSEG, IGCAR. Chancellor of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology Dr Mariazeena Johnson and President Dr Marie Johnson delivered the presidential address.
S Sundar Manoharan delivered the welcome address and B Sheela Rani, Director Research highlighted about Sathyabamasat and other activities involved in the programme. Exhibitions from various scientific organisations was a great motivation for the students and they also had the opportunity to interact with scientists of national and international reputation.
Scientific exhibitions from various laboratories including Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research(IGCAR), Combat Vehicles Research development and Establishment (CVRDE) and other National Accredited Labs organisations Science Live. Demonstration by Dr A Subbiah Pandian, Joint Director of Collegiate Education (Retd), was so interesting and the students had an opportunity to understand the basics of science in day-to-day life. VGP Marine Kingdom signed the MoU with Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology for research and education collaboration. For valedictory, Dr M Sundaresan, Regional Officer and Assistant Director, AICTE emphasised the importance of student awareness in the progress of the nation. Best deserving school projects bagged the prize in the programme and Dr M Sundaresan distributed the prize to students and mementos to theparticipating schools.
