‘Women and children more vulnerable to cybercrime’
Women and children were the most vulnerable to cybercrimes, said Justice Prabha Sreedevan (Retd) on Friday. She was addressing the 11th edition of National Cyber Safety and Security summit held to emphasise the rise in cybercrimes and the threats they pose to the society and national security.

People were voluntarily revealing their personal details on social media while reluctant to provide it when asked by the government for security purposes, commented the former judge.
Former judge Akbar Ali said that the misuse of the virtual world has broken several families. “By getting ourselves into the cyber world, we are possibly paving way for invasion of our privacy,” he said.
Another former judge, K N Basha, felt that cybercrimes posed a serious but hidden threat to the country, and asked people not to reveal their privacy details to strangers. He also sought parents to monitor their children.
E Khalieraaj, additional director, National Cyber Defence Research Centre, stressed on the need for public support to tackle cybercrimes. “We need human resources and manpower to augment cyber security,” he said.
