According to the police, the accident happened at Queensland, a theme park in Poonamallee on Tuesday. At around 4.30 pm, a group of about 20 persons, including children, were on the ride when the incident happened. As the machinery was nearing the ground, its cable snapped and it came down crashing. The people who were onboard the ride fell from a height of about 8 to 10 feet.

Soon, the staff rushed the victims to the nearby hospital wherein they underwent treatment and later discharged.

The staff did not inform the police about the incident, and following their requests, the injured persons, too, did not approach the police. However, a video of the mishap went viral on social media on Friday. Police said that the names of the injured were not known, as none of them approached to lodge a complaint.

Police sources said they found out about the incident only on Wednesday and conducted inspection at the amusement park. “We have given them a warning and have asked them to produce a fitness certificate for all their machinery and rides. They will be allowed to operate only after they get the FC,” said a police officer.
