Gang targeting foreign currency holders nabbed in Flower Bazaar
Flower Bazaar police have nabbed a seven-member gang that targeted and robbed men exchanging foreign currencies at Burma Bazaar after throwing chilli powder on them.

The accused were identified as S Adil (25) of Old Washermenpet, D Daniel Solomon (26) of Tondiarpet, M Gowtham (23) of Tiruvottiyur, Y Nagoor Meeran (33) of Nethaji Nagar, M Shahjahan (21) of Royapuram, E Devaraj (24) of New Washermenpet, S Ashrin (21) of Royapuram.
Police said that they received a complaint a week ago from one Venkatachalam that unidentified men threw chilli powder and robbed him. A case was registered and a special team comprising inspector Murugan and sub-inspectors Jaffer and Srinivasan were formed to nab the gang.
They team identified the bikes used by the men using CCTV footage and launched a hunt for them. Meanwhile, police spotted a six-member gang trying to loot one Krishnamoorthy in Flower Bazaar police jurisdiction on Sunday and nabbed them. Bikes, chilli powder and a few weapons were seized from them.
Investigation revealed that Nagoor Meeran tipped them off about people who exchanged dollars in Burma Bazaar. Nagoor Meeran was also arrested based on their inputs. In fact, the gang targeted another man on June 13, but by mistake attacked Venkatachalam and looted him, said police.
Among the arrested, Daniel Solomon has murder cases against him including that of gangster ‘Bokkai’ Ravi. All seven were booked under several sections and remanded in judicial custody.
