Nearly 10 days after a man was shot at using a pistol, Ennore police arrested two history-sheeters and seized the gun and two bullets from them. The incident came to light only on Monday after the victim, a member of the gang led by one of the two detained men, got himself admitted to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital unable to bear the pain.

On Monday, Stanley Medical College Hospital authorities alerted Ennore police that D Senthil alias ‘Sudusoru’ Senthil of Ennore has been admitted there with bullet injuries. A team led by Ennore inspector rushed to the hospital and grilled Senthil, a history-sheeter. He revealed that he was shot at with a pistol on June 8 by P Ramesh (33), a history-sheeter of Ennore. Police said Senthil was part of Ramesh’s gang.

“Around 2 pm on June 8, Senthil saw Ramesh and J Alexander (32), also from Ennore, arguing with another person identified as Deva of the same locality. When Senthil intervened, Ramesh was infuriated. He took out the pistol that he had with him and opened fire at Senthil, who suffered bullet injuries on his hip,” said police.

Though the bullet remained lodged on his body, Ramesh stayed at home after being threatened by Ramesh. However, when the pain became unbearable after a few days, Senthil came to Stanley Hospital. “The bullet was removed by the doctors and Senthil is out of danger,” said police.

Based on inputs from him, police registered a case and arrested Ramesh and Alexander. From them, they seized the pistol and two bullets.

Police said the pistol belongs to Ramesh who had bought it from Maharashtra four years ago for his own safety, as he feared attack from gangster Ennore Dhanasekaran’s men.

Ramesh has two murders cases and five cases of murder attempt pending against him, while Alexander has one attempted murder case against him. Both were remanded in judicial custody and further inquiry is on.
