Cops threatening me in land case, alleges Jeevajyothi

In the petition, Jeevajyothi has accused the Vedaranyam police of working in favour of a man, identified as Vedharasu, to whom her second husband Dhandapani pledged a house in 2018 for Rs 10 lakh, to develop his business.

“On January 8, I met Vedharasu along with my husband to receive the house documents and two cheques, which were submitted as collateral, after settling the loan. But Vedharasu asked us to come next day claiming that he had misplaced the documents. When we went the next day, he verbally abused us, attacked my husband with a chair and threatened to kill us at knifepoint if we come again,” Jeevajyothi has alleged in the petition.

Though they lodged a complaint at the Vedaranyam police station against Vedharasu, they had to move the Madras High Court to make police register a case on March 19.

However, to their shock, Vedharasu allegedly lodged a fabricated complaint that he was attacked by Dhandapani and his sister Sathyabhama and they extorted Rs 10 lakh from him by sending henchmen. While Dhandapani and Sathyabhama received an anticipatory bail on June 1, two policemen, Thamizharasan and Karthik, went to her house in Thanjavur and allegedly threatened her to withdraw the complaint against Vedharasu. Jeevajyothi has requested the DGP to intervene in the issue and take action against the police officers and retrieve the documents in Vedharasu’s possession.
