Car rams truck, two killed in Maduravoyal

The deceased were identified as Selvaganesh (21) and Saran Kishore (21) of Ramanathapuram district, who worked in a private firm in the city and stayed at Erikarai with two more friends - Praveen Kumar (21) and Ajith (19) - from the same district.

Around 4 am on Tuesday, all four went in Selvaganesh’s car to have tea near the tollgate. “An empty container truck took an unexpected U-turn about 100 metres before the Surapattu tollgate. Selvaganesh lost control over the wheels and rammed the truck from behind,” said the police officers.

While Selvaganesh died on the spot, the other three men were rushed to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. However, Saran Kishore died without responding to treatment. The other two have been admitted in critical condition. The car was mangled in the accident.

Koyambedu traffic investigation police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the truck driver who is absconding.
