DIY gifts to impress your dad this Father’s Day
From being a friend, a role model and a guide, dads are unsung superheroes with no capes. Ahead of Father’s Day on June 16, make these personalised do-it-yourself gifts to show your gratitude and appreciation for your dad.

Trophy bottle stoppers
There are sure to be several rows of trophies lying in your drawing room’s cupboards, most probably gathering some dust. Take out those trophies that your father would have won from his workplace for his extra efforts, or those that he helped you win for a school science fair years ago, and put them to use. Turn a trophy into a quirky bottle stopper by screwing it into a cork and attaching them using superglue. Use the stopper over wine bottles or water bottles and let your father flaunt his hard-earned victories.
Vinyl record bowls
If your father loved his huge vinyl record collection, of which many are scratched and unused now, upcycle them into good-looking bowls to give them a renewed purpose. All you need to do is simply heat your oven to 350 degrees and place the record you want to turn into a container over an oven-safe bowl and let it rest for few minutes for the record to be heated slightly. Now, take the records out and shape them into any structure you’d like. These bowls can be used as quirky candle holders or as an attractive piece on your coffee table.
DIY Bloody Mary kit
Help your father shake up a favourite cocktail of his with DIY kits at any time he desires. For instance, a simple Bloody Mary kit can be put together with a can of tomato juice, a mini vodka bottle, a dash of tobasco or Worcestershire sauce and some salt. Pack these into a mason jar, so that your dad can simply empty them into the glass jar and whip up his favourite drink in a jiffy, even when you’re not around to do it for him. This process can be replicated for any other cocktail recipes too.
Souvenir boxes
Travelling with dads is always special – whether it is the extensive amount of planning and organisation they come with, or how they make even the most boring trip so much fun. Give your dad these DIY souvenir boxes to reminisce your family trips. Turn the maps, knick-knacks and other souvenirs you have collected into tiny storage boxes that your father can use to store his stamp collection or cuff links. All you need to do to create these unique boxes is to take old cardboard boxes and stick on some of the old maps from your trips. You can embellish the boxes with some trinkets you might have collected during the travel.
Polaroid picture frame
Every father remembers the birth of his child as one of the most memorable events of his life. Let your dad cherish the moments he spent with you, right from the first time you held his hand as a child, to the first time he dropped you off at school, by displaying the polaroid shots or photographs on a small wooden board with a couple of nails to hang the pictures. Punch holes on top of each photograph and hang over the nails. This wooden board with pictures can make for a great piece for the coffee table or study table. You can hang a bunch of pictures so your father can have a new picture and new memory to recall every day.
