Serial bobbitiser scare in city after two attacks, 1 dead
Police release pictures of suspect after one victim reported he was slashed for rejecting the man’s sexual overtures
Chennai
The city police suspect that a serial bobbitiser could be on the prowl at nights near the Retteri junction in Kolathur after they confirmed the involvement of the same person in two recent incidents of chopping off private parts of men sleeping by the roadside.
On May 26, Aslam Basha (52) from Kolathur was found lying unconscious under the Retteri flyover, with his male organ chopped off and with injuries all over the body. He was rushed to the Stanley Government Hospital for treatment where Basha allegedly claimed that he had inflicted the injuries upon himself. However, Basha died soon after the incident hampering any further probe.
Two days later, another man was found bleeding near the Retteri flyover, with his private parts cut off. Narayana Perumal from Koodankulam, worked in a scrap shop at Villivakkam, and had slept near the flyover after consuming alcohol when the attack took place.
“While Perumal had also claimed initially that he had cut off his private parts, during sustained investigation, he confessed that another man was behind the assault. He was lying semi-conscious after consuming alcohol when the man approached him for sex and cut off his genitals when he refused,” said police. Police then scanned CCTV camera footage in the surrounding areas and have zeroed in on a suspect. “In the footage, we found that the suspect also tried to misbehave with a minor who had given him a lift on a bike. He could cause harm to more people if not nabbed soon,” Inspector Jawahar said.
The inspector added that if public know his identity and whereabouts, they can inform police control room or on his mobile number 94440 20007.
