Septuagenarian dies on flight

A 70-year-old man from Tripura, who was on the way to Chennai for treatment, died of cardiac arrest on a flight on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Manikar Lal, a businessman. He was suffering from heart problems and he was referred to a private hospital in Chennai. On Thursday, he took an early morning flight with his wife and son to Chennai. While travelling, Manikar Lal became unconscious and the pilot informed the Chennai ATC to keep a medical team ready.


Around 4 am, the flight reached Chennai airport and the doctors declared Manikar Lal dead due to a possible cardiac arrest. His body was sent for autopsy to Chromepet GH.


The same flight was scheduled to depart to Coimbatore at 5.10 am and CM Edappadi Palaniswami was scheduled to travel in it. Due to the incident, the flight was delayed by an hour.
