Anthem to throw light on environmental issues
The power of music to cut across political, religious, social and geographical barriers is being used to throw light on environmental issues by a group of musicians from across the world, including India.

Named the Climatrix Symphony — An Anthem for the Planet, the 8-minute instrumental piece will be released online on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5.
“The song will traverse as many as 72 different scales, setting a world record, and will use an array of 50 musical instruments. The music reminds one of the droughts, hurricanes and floods the world has witnessed over the past few years, and at the same time on the beauty of the planet. The song is beyond words and hence can be accessed by people across the world,” says N Ravikiran, the initiator of Planet Symphony Orchestra, a collective of global artists, musicians, climate scientists from the world over.The Planet Symphony Orchestra will be releasing the anthem digitally.
“Artists have the power to make science more impactful through their art by packaging and broadcasting it more effectively. Through the collective strength of artists, we want to raise awareness on climate change,” he adds.
Performers who were a part of the anthem creation include Kadri Gopalnath (saxophone), M Chandrashekaran (violin), Sacromento Youth Symphony, Middleton Community Orchestra, Grammy-winning Glen Velez among others.
“The song is truly global as it includes the work of Carnatic musicians, jazz artists, Chinese musicians and many others. With environment being one of the world’s biggest concerns, it is the responsibility of everyone to make sure our next generation gets a safer planet,” Ravikiran sums up.
