Youth arrested for marrying, sexually abusing 14-yr-old girl
A youth, who married a 14-year-old girl and sexually abused her, has been arrested by the Ambattur all-women police. The accused, Suresh (23) of Villupuram district, was remanded in judicial custody on Saturday.

The police said that Suresh, who has completed an ITI course, befriended the 14-year-old girl when he was returning home on a bus after attending an interview in the city, two months ago. Since then, they were talking over phone and developed a relationship. On May 15, the girl went missing and her parents lodged a complaint at the Ambattur police station. During investigation, the police found that Suresh took the girl to his home town.
When Suresh and the girl reached Ambattur on Friday night, the police picked them up and handed them over to Ambattur All-Women Police Station. Investigation revealed that Suresh took the girl to his hometown on May 15 and married her in a local temple. “He had also sexually assaulted her,” said the police. He was then arrested under the Pocso Act while the girl was rescued and handed over to her parents.
College student held under Pocso Act
Meanwhile, another 23-year-old man, who impregnated a girl, on the promise of marrying her has been arrested under the Pocso Act byTirumangalam all-women police.
The accused, B Arun of Choolaimedu, was studying BCom in a private college, said the police. He developed a relationship with a 17-year-old girl from the same locality. Promising to marry her, he also impregnated her.
The girl’s mother, who came to know about this, lodged a complaint at Tirumangalam All-Women Police Station. A case was registered and Arun was arrested after investigation. Police remanded him in judicial custody on Sunday.
