Two repeat offenders arrested for kidnapping taxi driver

T Pandian (34) alias Dill Pandi of Sivaganga is a history-sheeter with murder charges in Korattur, while other accused, identified as G Logesh (31) of Villivakkam, is a murder accused in Kolathur police station. The police said that the victim, D Ashok Kumar (36), a resident of Nesappakkam is a taxi driver,was walking back home on Thursday night when two men in a car intercepted him around 10.30 pm on Erikkarai road and threatened him at knife point. When Ashok told them he did not have any valuables, they kidnapped him and dropped him a few kilometres away after snatching Rs 700 from him. Based on his complaint, the MGR Nagar police registered a case and checked the CCTV footage from the locality. They traced the car and arrested the kidnappers. The car was seized, and they remanded in judicial custody on Friday.
