Drag race: Suspension of licences recommended

A team of police personnel headed by Joint Commissioner (East) MV Jayagowri was on night patrol when they noticed a group of youngsters racing at a maddening speed on Kamarajar Salai. Immediately, barricades were erected to secure them.

While some managed to escape, the police nabbed 11 two-wheeler riders for interrogation. They were later handed over to the traffic enforcement wing, who fined them and recommended cancellation of their driving licences.

Marina inspector Jeyaraj said that the patrol will be intensified in the night hours and more barricades will be erected to control overspeeding on the stretch.
