Aruna, the deceased, was native of Tiruvannamalai district and a resident of the police quarters at TP Chatiram, said police. Aruna’s brother had committed suicide by jumping in front of a train a year ago, while her mother is said to be critically ill because of a kidney ailment. Aruna was depressed over these reasons for the last few months, and had been undergoing treatment for it, said sources. On Monday morning, she attempted suicide by hanging at her house, but her husband Jeyachandran rescued and rushed her to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. However, she died without responding to treatment on Tuesday morning.
TP Chatiram police have registered a case and further investigation is on. Jeyachandran is working in a private firm as an auditor. The couple has a daughter aged 21 and a 10-year-old son. Additional Commissioner (South) Mahesh Kumar Agarwal visited Aruna’s family on Tuesday.
