Anna University gives last chance to over 30K students to clear arrears

This effort is a special consideration on humanitarian grounds, the institution said in a statement on Tuesday.

A statement from the university syndicate on Tuesday said that permission to allow the students to write their arrears exam came after numerous representations from the candidates seeking permission to complete their degree courses.
The duration of all undergraduate engineering courses is four years, while students with arrears are mandated to clear it within three years after completing the course.
“It is informed that the Syndicate of Anna University in its recent meeting resolved to permit the students who have exhausted their permitted maximum period, as per their respective regulations, to appear for their examinations again as a special case on humanitarian grounds during November and December 2019, and April and May 2020,” the university said.
The students have been advised to utilise these two chances with “utmost care and diligence”, reminding them that this was the final and last chance provided by the university.
The university said students of its departments admitted in or after the academic year 2000, both undergraduate and postgraduate fulltime and part-time mode, would be in category one.
Similarly, students of affiliated colleges of Anna University admitted in 2001-2002 academic year, (third semester onwards, that is students transferred from the State universities of Tamil Nadu) would be in category two. And students admitted in 2002-2003 and currently in autonomous institutions including distance education programme offered by Anna University would also be in category two, the statement added.
Details of the exams would be provided in the web portal of Anna University for the students of affiliated colleges by second week of June. Separate notifications would be published for the students of the university departments by the additional controller of examinations, it said.
