    Delivering his address at the valedictory function of the free summer coaching camp organised for the sixth consecutive year at VIT Chennai on Tuesday, he said that VIT’s free summer coaching camp  early in the morning helped children inculcate the habit to wake up early and exercise daily to be physically and mentally fit.

    “Doing exercise daily has several benefits such as improving body’s blood flow and be physically and mentally fit as well,” he said.

    Selvam also urged children to not stop exercising at home even after the summer coaching camp is over. “Getting yourselves involved in sports at all levels like district, State, national and international level will help you get priority not only in higher studies but also in employment,” he added.

    The summer camp which started on May 1 went on till May 21, 2019 with participation of students from about 50 schools across Chennai and neighbouring districts. Experts in sports like athletics, basketball, volleyball, football, tennis and table Tennis trained the participants.

    Those who took part in the camp were provided with nutritious food and transportion at free of cost. Director-Students welfare Dr R Padmanabhan, Assistant Directors of Physical Education PM Balamurali, A Divya Priya, staff at VIT, Chennai and parents were present during the valedictory function.
