Two killed in separate accidents in city

Moorthy (63) and his wife Shanthi (58) of Subburayan street, Mylapore, were returning home after visiting their relative’s house in Velachery. When the couple was crossing the Sardar Patel Road, a bus hit them from behind on the service road near the bridge. The bus that was coming from Ayanavaram was bound for Besant Nagar. In the impact, the couple fell down on the road. While the man got up, his wife came under the front wheel of the bus and sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. On information, Adyar traffic investigation police rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy. The police have arrested the bus driver Moorthy (45) of Tiruvannamalai.

In another accident, an assistant engineer of city Corporation died, after he fell from the bike at Ayanavaram on Sunday night. The victim, Raja (30) of Somasundaram fourth street in Ayanavaram, was on his way home from Purasaiwalkam. When he was near Abirami theatre, his bike skidded after hitting a stone on the road. He landed on his head. As he was not wearing a helmet, Raja sustained severe head injuries. Further investigation is on.
