Those arrested have been identified as Madan (42) and his 22-year-old son son Nithiyanandan, residents of  CLC Lane street in Chromepet.

The victims, P Vignesh (16), a Class 11 student and I Nanda (19), a college student from Nagalkeni in Chromepet, have been admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital with serious injuries.

A source in the police said that Vignesh and Nanda had gone to attend a meeting at Church at the CLC Lane street on Friday. Later, they decided to go to a shop on their two-wheeler.

On their way, they came across Madan and Nithyanandan talking to each other in the middle of the road. The youth asked the duo to step aside, which led to a quarrel. Vignesh and Nanda left the spot after a few minutes.

Madan and Nithiyanandan, however, intercepted their two-wheeler and attacked them with knives and escaped from the spot. Passersby called for an ambulance and rushed them both to Chromepet Government Hospital. From there, they were shifted to RGGGH.

The Shankar Nagar police registered a case and arrested Madan and Nithiyanandan. They have been remanded in judicial custody.
