Cops bust ganja peddling gang, 55 kg of contraband seized
A gang of five ganja peddlers were arrested and more than 55 kilograms of contraband were seized from them.

Following information that ganja peddling is taking place in an organised manner in Pulianthope, Otteri and Basin Bridge localities, a special team was formed as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Saisaran Tejaswi.
On Wednesday morning, the police secured Jothi and Krishnakumar in Kannikapuram for peddling ganja and seized three kilograms of the banned substance from her. Based on her confession, the special team rushed to Kasimedu and arrested Ilango of the same locality and Balamurugan of Minjur. Two kilograms of ganja was seized from the duo.
Later, they surrounded a three-member gang in Nandiambakkam. While two managed to escape, police secured Ramesh of Coimbatore and raided the house he was staying. Police found out that the gang had been hiding ganja inside pillow covers.
As many as 30 pillows covers containing 51 kg ganja was seized and Ramesh was secured. While Jothi and Krishnakumar have been remanded in judicial custody, inquiry is on with other three men. A hunt has also been launched to arrest the two men who escaped from police. After preliminary investigation, police said that the gang brought ganja from Andhra Pradesh to peddle in the city.
