Pulicat lake accident: 3 fishermen arrested
Three persons were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the mishap that resulted in the death of woman after two boats that took tourists on a joyride capsized in Pulicat lake on Sunday, the police said.

The arrested persons, Gugan (35), Constantine Clive (38) and Gopi (40), are fishermen from Pulicat area. The police said they were accused of taking tourists for a ride on their boats which resulted in the death of a woman.
“Despite the ban on boat tourism in the Pulicat lake, these men lured the two families for a boat ride and took them without taking any safety precaution,” Thirupalaivanam police said. On Sunday, 10 tourists from the Kasimedu area went for joy ride in two fibre boats operated by the accused. The boats collided with each other and later capsized. A woman died and nine were injured in the mishap.
